David Giwerc – Founder |
David is a Master Certified Coach, MCC, with the International Coach Federation the governing body for the coaching profession. He has been coaching adults with ADHD for a decade, with a specific focus on entrepreneurs with ADHD and mentors some of the world’s leading coaches. David is the Founder and President of the ADD Coach Academy, founded in 1998, (ADDCA,) the premier comprehensive, long-distance ADD* (also refers to ADHD) coach training program. The program is designed to teach the essential skills necessary to powerfully coach individuals with ADD. |

David Giwerc is also the immediate past President (2003-2006) of ADDA, (Attention Deficit Disorder Association), the world’s leading adult ADHD organization and continues to serve on the executive committee in a variety of important ADDA roles. As a veteran board member he served in the capacity of Vice-President/Marketing, and Marketing Committee Chair with ADDA. He was a key committee member involved in the development of ADDA’s current “Guiding Principles for Coaching Individuals with ADHD” in addition to authoring and directing ADDA’s 2002, 2003, 2004 strategic plans. David was a catalyst for ADDA’s United States Senate resolution that was unanimously approved by the U.S. Senate on July 6, 2004. The resolution declared September 7, 2004, National ADHD Awareness Day.
David also leads ICF’s only SIG, Special Interest Group, a monthly teleconference for ADD coaches. This monthly tele-conference class, sponsored by the International Coach Federation, is designed to provide a platform for ICF coaches to learn more about ADD coaching and share successful strategies.
He was also the producer and co-director of the well-received ADD Coaching video, “Me, My ADD Coach & I”. He has had published articles for CHADD, ADDA and both he and the Academy have been featured in the New York Times, New York Times magazine, Fortune, Inc. Magazine, ADDitude a magazine, Attention and other well- known periodicals.
David is a graduate (1978), Cum Laude, of Syracuse University’s, Newhouse School of Communications. He is also a graduate of both Coach University (1997) and the Optimal Functioning Institute (1996). David was a former President of the Optimal Functioning Institute and conducted tele-conference classes at Coach University.
Prior to coaching, David helped develop and direct the marketing/strategic plans on behalf of one of the world's largest advertising agencies (Young & Rubicam). Major responsibilities included: Director of Marketing on the Miller Brewing Account, development of all sports marketing plans (NBA, NFL and major league baseball), retail marketing and sales promotion for their 600 + distributors. Additional clients included Champion Products, Inc., Pizza Hut, PepsiCo, Jiffy Lube and AT&T.
David, who has been interviewed on various radio and television programs, has also been a featured speaker at ADDA, CHADD, and the International Coach Federation conferences. He has a busy coaching practice dedicated to ADHD entrepreneurs and the mentoring of ADHD coaches.
He and his wife, Marla (ADDCA’s Director of Operations & Professional Services) and their two children live in the suburbs of Albany, NY. In his previous life, David played Division one college basketball, currently holds a Black Belt (Shodan) in Budokai Karate and enjoys working out daily, writing, creating coach training programs and learning more about self-development, spirituality and the science of the brain.
